    1. Hi,

“Over the coming MANY weeks ….”

Yes, I know this is way overdue. I’ve got so many plans and great blog posts to come, but you have to wait a little more. If there’s something specific you’re looking for, let me know, and I’ll see if I can get it done.

      Thanks for the patience,

  2. Hi Daniel, is there at least, maybe, somewhere, :-), a SR note what to do already regarding

“Upgrade Oracle Base Database Service to Oracle Database 23ai”. A lot of our OCI customers want to upgrade to 23ai, but at current, I don’t see any upgrade path in OCI consoles. Is there a minimum requirement in OCI? Maybe, must be on OL8 or something or…

    1. Hi Marco,

I’m not quite sure. I know they have been working on it, but I don’t know any details. The cloud tooling is handled by another team at Oracle. However, if you want to upgrade today, I suggest that you look at this blog post:

Upgrade Pluggable Database to Oracle Database 23ai

It would probably be my preferred way of doing it anyway. You can avoid lengthy downtime of Grid Infrastructure and the entire database, by just upgrading the PDB.

  3. Hi ,

Do we have the database 23ai version released for on prem?

Do we need to do manual conversion of non-cdb to cdb/pdb in exacc?

    1. Hi,

Oracle Database 23ai is available in OCI and on engineered systems. For up-to-date information about other platforms you need to check My Oracle Support note 742060.1.

For Exadata Cloud@Customer I suggest that you use AutoUpgrade to perform the conversion.
      1. Create a CDB using the cloud tooling
      2. Use this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0wCWbp-htU
      3. I assume your database is encrypted, so check the webinar again for details on TDE and AutoUpgrade
      4. You might also want to look here https://dohdatabase.com/2024/05/21/upgrade-oracle-base-database-service-to-oracle-database-23ai/. It is for PDB to PDB upgrade – but similar method can be used for non-CDB to PDB – even without an upgrade.

      Hope that helps,
      Daniel
